Photographing destination weddings near and far
Hey There!
Iβm Katie Dawn, your destination wedding photographer
Traveling on its own can be a daunting task with all the planning and moving parts involved, never mind planning a destination wedding across the country or even across the globe. It can feel like a lot to plan a destination wedding someplace you donβt live, but itβs all worth it once you finally get to live out the day- and hopefully I can make it a little easier for you!
After visiting over 30 countries around the globe, Iβm happy to share whatever experience or advice I can offer, or even just give you the peace of mind that the person who will be capturing your day is experienced and capable. If you need help with the planning process or info on the area you want to visit, Iβm here to offer my services along the way. Hundreds of couples have trusted me with their most important memories, and Iβm down to meet you anywhere and everywhere your love takes you.
How to plan a destination wedding
Pick a location:
Maybe you already have somewhere in mind, or maybe youβre still throwing ideas around, but the first step is to choose where youβre going to say βI doβ. Maybe you have a place thatβs special to you and your love, or maybe want to explore the peaks of the Dolomites, or maybe a fancy beach venue in Bali or Tulum appeals to you, or maybe somewhere totally off the beaten track in Asia or Africa is more your style. Whatever the case, this is the first step- brainstorm, put together mood boards, Pinterest boards, read blogs, find inso wherever you can to help you decide on your dream destination wedding location.
Research local laws and permits:
This step is less fun, but we need to figure out the logistics. Is it easier to get married at the court house back home or are there more lax laws in another state or country? Are you legally allowed to marry in this country? Will your marriage be recognized where youβre getting married? Do you need a religious officiant? Do you need a permit to get married in your dream location? All of these are questions I can help with, but researching online beforehand may impact where you decide to marry- you donβt want to have your heart set of someplace just to find out the legal process is a headache you canβt navigate.
Experience your wedding:
The best part: enjoying your day. Gather your friends and family in your chosen destination and celebrate! Eat food from the country or region your visiting, partake in local cultures, explore scenic natural areas in the place youβve chosen to marry, relax, have fun, whatever suits you for your day.
